When it's too cold or dark to play outside for long, a few winter worksheets can fill a quiet half hour indoors. These pages use snowmen, mittens and an igloo, so they work all winter long, not just around the holidays.
What your child practices
- Counting 1 to 5 with mittens.
- The letter S: tracing big S and small s, with a snowman to color.
- Pencil control in a 6×6 snowman-to-igloo maze.
- Patterns with snowmen, mittens and stars.
How to use the winter pages
- Count the Mittens and circle the right number in each row.
- Trace S is for Snowman. S is a curvy letter, so a finger trace first really helps.
- Do the maze: help the snowman get to the igloo.
- Finish with Winter Patterns. Say the pictures out loud to hear the pattern.

Winter activities for indoor days
- Mitten matching. Mix up the family's gloves and mittens and find the pairs.
- Snowman counting. Draw snowmen with different numbers of buttons and count them.
- Ice melt experiment. Put ice cubes in different spots around the house and check which melts first.
- Cotton ball snow. Pick up cotton balls with tongs and drop them into a cup.
- Winter dress-up. Practice zipping coats and putting on mittens; it's real fine motor work.
