What your child practices
- Writing 1 with a dotted number that shows where to start.
- Reading the word "one".
- Recognizing 1 among other numbers.
- Counting 1 objects and stopping at 1.
The three free pages
- Number 1: trace the big 1 with a finger, trace the row with a pencil, then color 1 sun from a bigger group.
- Find the Number 1: color or circle every 1 in the grid and count them.
- Count the Moons: count each row and circle the number. Many rows have 1 moon.

Number 1 activities at home
- One of each. Put one spoon, one cup and one apple on the table.
- Jump once. Do one jump, one clap and one spin.
- Number walk. Look for the number 1 on doors, clocks and signs.
Tips
Start at the top. Show where the number begins; most numbers start at the top.
Count, then stop. On the coloring part, count out loud and stop at 1. Leaving pictures uncolored on purpose is great self-control practice.
