These free number worksheets for preschool give every number from 1 to 10 its own page. Each page has the same three parts, so your child can work through them one by one: a big dotted number to trace with a finger, a row to trace with a pencil, and a "color this many" activity.
What your child practices
- Writing numbers with dotted tracing digits that show the pencil path.
- Number words: one, two, three… up to ten.
- Counting out a quantity: coloring exactly 3 apples out of a bigger group is harder (and more useful) than just counting what's there.
How to use the number pages
- Trace the big number with a finger. Say its name while tracing.
- Read the number word together. Point to each letter.
- Trace the row with a pencil, starting at the solid number.
- Color the right number of pictures. Count out loud as you color, and stop at the number. The extra pictures stay white.

One number at a time
Do one page per day, or even one page every few days, and use the number in real life too. On "number 4 day," find 4 spoons, clap 4 times and jump 4 times. Coming back to small numbers often is how they stick.
Common mix-ups
Coloring too many. Children often keep coloring because it's fun. Remind them to count and stop. It's a great self-control moment, too.
Backwards numbers. Writing 3, 7 or 9 backwards is very common at this age and usually sorts itself out. Point to the solid model number and trace it together.
